Can I do this in a rental?
Some changes, such as plug-in lighting and removable sensors, can move with you. We’ll check your equipment, lease, and any permissions needed before recommending changes.
Do I need to replace everything?
We start by checking what you own. Compatibility varies, so we’ll work out what can stay before suggesting new equipment. Any wiring changes are assessed separately and handled by an appropriate electrician.
What do I get from the free visit?
A free 30-minute in-home visit, practical recommendations, and a clear next step. A detailed floor plan, device list, and step-by-step DIY build guide are part of the separate $349 Assessment & Custom Plan.
Can you help with setup and installation?
Yes. Automation Setup is $500/room for configuration; you arrange your electrician for hardware installation. Full Service is $600/room plus separately billed electrician labor, and includes help finding an electrician. Equipment costs are confirmed in the quote. All prices are estimates, confirmed before work begins.
Is there a monthly subscription?
Home Assistant has no required platform subscription. Optional support is $29/mo or $299/yr; one-off help is $95/hr with a 2-hour minimum. Some integrations and remote-access services may have their own costs.
What happens if the internet goes down?
Compatible local devices and automations can continue working on your home network. Cloud-dependent features may be unavailable. We’ll explain which parts of your proposed setup need an internet connection, and how you can control them manually where supported.
