I've been automating things my whole career.
By day I design workflow automation for real estate firms and engineering companies. The work is the same pattern, over and over: someone's team is drowning in repetitive, copy-paste tasks that a computer should be handling. I map the process, fix the broken parts, and build the system that takes it off their plate.
On nights and weekends, I do the same thing for homes. I've been running Home Assistant for years — the open-source, local-first smart home platform — and along the way I've helped friends and family replace their subscription-based hodgepodge with something that actually works.
